Our server has one big hard drive and seems to work fine. Is there anything to worry about?

Last Updated: 12 years ago in Servers / Workstations – Return to Knowledgebase

Yes. All hard drives go bad. It is only a matter of time, and circumstances. We design and build storage for servers with RAID (redundant array of inexpensive drives). The idea is that if one of the drives goes bad, the server can continue operating using this RAID configuration, and the bad drive can be replaced on the fly. This is just a brief description of how it works and there are different levels of RAID that can be in use. We can discuss all this when you call us, and if you have concerns about what storage configuration you have in place at this time – we can quickly determine that for you through a remote support session.
