Is it safe to allow employees to bring in their personal smartphones and tablets and use them on the office network?
Not really. It is becoming a common practice because business owners are trying to save the cost of buying each employee another smartphone. The issues start when you have a trouble maker employee. The iPad, or iPhone they have connected on your network is personal property of the employee and can easily be used to copy data from the network to the mobile devices. Also, just when you think that your employees are getting work done, they really might be on their mobile devices – texting, using YouTube, or worse – and you may never know since you have no control over their devices. This is a complicated issue and we can discuss with you the different angles.
