What is the difference between Static IP and Dynamic IP and which should I have at my office?

Last Updated: 12 years ago in General Questions – Return to Knowledgebase

A dynamic IP is commonly used for homes. It costs you less per month, and will make little difference in the way that you operate your computers at home. Static IPs and the lines that coming with them are considered to be business level lines, and allow for proper use of servers such as an Exchange server. What is critical to understand is that when you have a static IP address it is permanent, and we can point traffic such as email to that mail server. If it sounds confusing, it is time to call one of our engineers and we will be happy to hear about your network situation and make the right recommendations.
