My computer is about 6 years old. Can I plan on using it for 3 more years?

Last Updated: 9 years ago in Servers / Workstations – Return to Knowledgebase

We wouldn’t recommend doing that. Every computer has moving parts such as hard drive, fans in power supply and CPU cooling. The wear on these parts will cause a failure of these components within this time frame, such as hard drives which often go bad in less than 4 years. Keep in mind that these days technology changes so fast and new operating systems that are more secure and stable are constantly being released. If you are using a computer that is over 6 years old – you are using technology that is at least that old, if not older. Instead of waiting to get hacked, or waiting for a very expansive repair, you should take proactive approach. Replace the system while it is working, and save the costs of combining a repair plus replacement. There are many factors to consider when you change a computer, and with our experience of replacing thousands of systems for many of our clients, we can assist you and make this an easy process.
