My laptop is connecting to the wireless router, but I still can’t browse the web. Why?

Last Updated: 11 years ago in Hardware – Return to Knowledgebase

The fact that wireless signal on the laptop is showing to be connected is half of the puzzle. The router itself typically has a feed from the Internet provider that must be working for you to browse the web. A typical setup will be a cable modem, or DSL modem that connects to a dedicated wireless router.  Although the router might be working properly, the modem itself might be in need for a restart (power it off, and power it on 10 seconds after). It would be also a good idea to simply turn off both of the devices, and first turn on the modem, and one minute later your router. Sounds confusing to you? Call us. We can help you resolve such simple issue over the phone, and if the problem involves more than that, we will arrange for onsite visit to your office or home to take care of the issue.
