Our server is out of warranty and is about 7 years old. What would you recommend doing?

Last Updated: 12 years ago in Servers / Workstations – Return to Knowledgebase

The server is at the high range of what we consider server life. It is likely to be running an older server operating system, the hardware is old, and the hard drives are about to give up. Our recommendations are to immediately start the process of getting a new server, a current OS, and do a migration from the old server to the new server, while everything still working. The cost of doing server migration while the old one is still alive can be about half of the cost of the same migration with original server broken. You have to take into consideration the amount of downtime you will have without having a new server ready to go. We can help you with the purchase of new server, and with the actual migration itself. We had done this many times successfully for many of our clients.
